Wondering what is the name of the car in the header? Well, wonder no more, it’s an Audi Q7. The first SUV from Audi.
Its debut was in June 2006 as a 2007 model and it is the ultimate sporty handling and performance SUV. The Q7 is actually based on a midsize wagon the A6 Avant. The pricing is also between the A6 and the A8 sedan.
The Q7 can seat up to seven passengers in three rows. The second row can be adjusted for more cargo space or more leg room and the second and the third row also have split seat backs that fold to increase cargo room.
There are 2 engine choices which include a 350 hp 4.2 liter V8 and a 280 hp V6. Both are mated to a six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with manual shift capability.
Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system comes as a standard. It uses a center differential to distribute power from the front to the rear wheels and side to side to improve traction and stability. A compex double-wishbone suspension system with twin tube shock absorbers is designed for a smooth ride, agile handling and moderate off-road ability. The ground clearance can be adjusted by raising the suspension or lowered for high-speed aerodynamics.
The interior is a combination between aluminum and wood with leather seats and it gives a very cool look to the Q7’s interior. It features Audi’s typical Multi-Media interface, which is operated by a large knob and video display for the navigation, audio, climate control and other interesting functions.
The closest competitors of the Audi Q7 are the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz M Class, Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg.
The Audi Q7 doesn’t come cheap. If you’re looking to buy one then have your pockets prepared because a standard Q7 will cost you $50,000 and can go up to $55,000 - $65,000 depending on the extra options you select.
